Services & Fees

Straightforward, Flexible Engagements

In-person, virtual, or on-site. Half day, full day, or as long as it takes.
How Matt Works

A Format That Fits the Matter

Matt prefers in-person mediation and will travel when necessary. He has an office in the San Francisco North Bay with multiple conference rooms for in-person mediation, and he can also schedule remotely at another office or virtually.

His fee is a wide range depending on the number of parties, the complexity and stage of the case, and the amount in dispute. Once he has communicated with all participants and/or their counsel about the urgency and need for mediation, he proposes a structure (½ day, full day, etc.) and a mediation fee. He can, and does, volunteer his time when appropriate.

No fee will be charged until a mediation agreement is signed, and there are no administrative fees.

Fee Structures

Three Common Engagements

Quoted on a per-case basis after a brief intake call. A detailed fee schedule is sent following that call. Final fees depend on parties, complexity, stage, and amount in dispute.
01

Half Day

4 hours · 9–1 or 1–5

Best for matters with narrower issues, two parties, or limited budgets. Even in shorter sessions, the focus stays on keeping parties negotiating productively.

02

Full Day

8 hours · 9–5, often longer

The most common structure. The framework is 9 a.m.–5 p.m., but Matt does not end a mediation while parties are working toward agreement.

03

Custom / Multi-Day

As the matter requires

Complex multi-party cases, significant insurance involvement, or matters that need pre-session prep, post-session follow-up, and additional convenings.

Every engagement includes
  • Pre-mediation calls with parties and/or counsel
  • Review of briefs and key documents
  • The mediation session itself (in person or virtual)
  • Help shaping written settlement terms when requested
  • Post-mediation follow-up until the matter resolves
Pro Tem & Volunteer Work

Matt conducts pro tem judge assignments on a volunteer basis and serves on several court and bar association panels on a volunteer or pro bono or reduced-fee basis.
